Jenkins Middle School offers AVID elective classes and will be implementing AVID strategies school-wide this year. We’re excited about the doors of opportunity this could open for our students. What is AVID? This is an excerpt from their website, “AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nonprofit that changes lives by helping schools shift to a more equitable, student-centered approach. We train 70,000 educators annually to close the opportunity gap, so they can prepare all students for college, careers, and life.” (What Avid Is.)
Our big goal this year is to effectively extend the AVID approach into all classes. Watch the video below to see AVID’s impact on students.
Here’s a look at AVID being incorporated school-wide. This is what we want for our students! We want to do everything possible to help our students be successful, not only in middle school, but in high school and beyond. AVID can help us make this happen.
More information about our AVID program will be available when school begins. We’re excited to move from a few classes to a school-wide implementation of AVID teaching strategies. We hope our community will support these efforts. After all, we are one town, one school, and one family! Help us reach “Destination Excellence”!
